27 april 2011 the first RoboNED Conference took place and brought 170 people to the ‘Jaarbeurs’ in Utrecht. The Conference focused on the aspects that are needed to actually apply robots, in such a way that the Dutch economy and society will benefit the most. Important aspects discussed are technology, education and societal acceptation.
This conference gave an overview of the state of the art on robotic technology. Scientists and entrepreneurs presented their view on the fields Vision & Sensors, Mechanisms & Control, Navigation & Movement and Human Machine Interaction & Safety. The fair showed the newest robots of today and brought the visitors the sound of the robot band ‘Teamdare’ which created a good atmosphere for setting up new cooperation’s.
Discussions are being held o.a. on the topics ‘Education in Robots’ and ‘Society and Robots’. Experts gave their insight in the topics and provided a lot to think about. This certainly will lead to an acceleration in the developments.
During the earlier held 'RoboNED seminar 3' a SWOT-analysis is performed. The results are processed and resulted in the Dutch Robotic Analysis presented by Stefano Stramigioli. The position of the Netherlands is clear now. Time to formulate a focus!
Keynote speaker Herman Bruyninckx, o.a. coordinator of EURON stated ‘Do not wait for funding of the government’. ‘Markets, know-how and partners are there to be exploited’. A firm encouragement to the take the opportunities and to make the Dutch robotics a success!
